Recap

The Jazz bounced back from Saturday’s loss to Dallas in a good way, slugging out a win against the Grizzles by sticking to their offensive execution, especially down the stretch.

C.J. Miles had a great game, serving as the evening’s go-to guy and energy producer for the Jazz offense. Miles finished with 20 points while keeping Rudy Gay in check while defending him. Gay went 1-4 from the three point line, the only three point contributor for the Grizzles (1-11).

The game was largely a duke-it-out affair, with neither team holding a lead bigger than 7 until near the end of the 3rd. Raja Bell helped to extend the Jazz lead on two occasions to stay out of reach of the Grizzles, who stayed aggressive to the end.

The Jazz face the Miami Heat (now armed with a 5-game winning streak) on Wednesday in Salt Lake City.

Game Quotes

Jerry Sloan

“I think they played pretty hard. They hung in there with us most of the night. They played a tough game last night so, it was a nice win for us. It wasn’t a pretty win, but we take them any way we can get them.”

Deron Williams

“I don’t know, we didn’t really click as a group all night. It was kind of a defensive battle. We played well in spurts. I think C.J. shot very well for us and that helped.”

“He’s [CJ Miles] very key. The games he’s come in and gotten 18 or 20 points, we’ve been really successful. We need that from him. We need him to be that consistent scorer off the bench and bring a lot of energy.”

Al Jefferson

“It’s a great start, great win for us. They played hard, we played hard. Me and Paul didn’t have the best games, but that’s how great this team is when two main guys don’t have a great game and you still pick up a win.”
