Notes from the Weekend: Nov 1st

Lebron James’ Hindsight on “The Decision”

As per ESPN, LeBron James has revealed that – if given the chance – he would have differently handled the announcement of his decision to sign with the Miami Heat.

“If I had to go back on it, I probably would do it a little bit different,” James said. “But I’m happy with the decision I made. There’s always going to be a misunderstanding. I don’t know what I would [have done], but I definitely would have changed it.”

James was also asked if he had ranked the teams who were perusing him last summer while trying to make his decision.

“Not really,” James said. “It was some meetings that were better than others. But at the end of the day, this was the team I felt like I had the best opportunity to win for a long period of time. I didn’t have a list, one through six or one through five, whatever the case was.”

Celtics Won’t Discipline, Release Delonte West

There was news Friday that Delonte West attacked Von Wafer in the locker room prior to the Celtics game vs the Knicks. The Celtics – Doc Rivers in particular – dug into the situation, and have decided not to pursue disciplinary actions.

“It should have stayed inside the locker room and it didn’t,” Rivers said. “That’s OK, we’re just going to leave it alone. [Fights] happen. Some are fine, some are not. I’m not going to say one way or another on this one.”

Fail Blazers Do Not Provide Odom With Contract Extension

I can’t say I’m overly surprised by this, but it does speak to the fact that the Odom era in Portland has been, well… fairly disappointing.

“We value Greg as a player both on and off the court,” Cho said. “Greg has been injured and has been working hard through the rehab process, but at this time it didn’t seem to make a lot of sense for either side to enter negotiations on an in-depth basis.”

Odom will become a restricted free agent on July 1st, so the Blazers will still have the chance to match any offer he receives.

Weekend Filled With Close-Finish Games

The first weekend of the season did not disappoint, with 10 games decided by 6 points or less. Here are some of the big games from the weekend:

Friday, October 29th
