Preseason: Heat Look Good

The big story in last night’s ‘official’ opening to NBA preseason was the debut of Miami’s big three vs the Pistons. NBA TV ran the game nationally, and ESPN treated it as though it was a regular season game.

(Oh, by the way, thanks to a co-worker of mine for finding news that ESPN is going to launch a special section of its site dedicated to all these Heat. They will have four reporters covering the team, and will include “coverage of every Heat game and team practice,” “constantly updated aggregation of all ESPN stories regarding the Heat,” a feature called ‘The Drive for 72’ which will ‘automatically’ project how many games the Heat will win this season and another section called ‘Tracking the Big 3,’ which will provide “an automated tracking of how James, Wade and Bosh stack up against the best trios in NBA history.”)

Dwayne Wade pulled his hamstring about three minutes into the game and is probably out for two weeks of the preseason, but there was plenty of highlight opportunities to be had. Bosh and James combined for 38, even though they only played 27 and 26 minutes respectively.

It’s not much, but it should be enough to remind you that this Heat team looks good.
