Free Agency: Here Comes the Circus

Wade, James

So, what’s about to happen?

Arguably the biggest class of Free Agent talent since the NBA merger becomes available at 12:01 AM ET Thursday morning. Among them is the reigning MVP and multiple championship level players. If you’ve been following this on any level, you’re well aware that, frankly, things are pretty nutty right now in the NBA.

There are new rumors every day. In fact, Ball Don’t Lie’s blog reported that in the last week or so, multiple media sources ‘broke’ the news that, according to source close to Camp LeBron, the King had made up his mind and will be signing with the Knicks, but then a few days later, another source confirmed that he. WILL. Be signing with Chicago.

No wait, did we say Chicago? We meant Miami. He’ll be signing with Miami. Done deal.

Well, maybe he’ll sign with Dallas.

Personally, I’m still holding out hope that Utah pulls off the Yoink, but those hopes are fading in favor of hopes that the Jazz can at least hold onto Korver.

There’s plenty to talk about – almost too much to talk about – but I feel like it’s wisest to stay focused on the players who are most likely to provide an immediate impact to whatever team signs him. I took the liberty of listing out the top free agents available Thursday morning, ordered by their 2009 stats.

I also took the liberty of building up a Free Agency HQ. I wanted to provide a one-stop shop for all the latest from the most relevant FAs on the market, along with the teams in the market to acquire them.

Finally, I noticed that ESPN.com is hosting a Free Agency fantasy game. If you’re at all interested in playing, click here, sign in and look for ‘Kobe is the smoke monster’

Check back for the latest. It may well be a crazy couple weeks.

One Response to “Free Agency: Here Comes the Circus”

  1. This is a very well written article as well as a great blog you got going here! I think that the big problem that is going to face these top tier free agents is the ability to find a good supporting cast because teams have shed so much salary in order to get them. Also, you think you could check out my blog because I really want to know what your opinion is on my thoughts. http://chrisross91.wordpress.com/2010/06/29/lebron-and-sidekick-will-be-dominant-but-will-it-translate-to-a-championship/
